Corporate Lawyers Against War is an international organization of corporate attorneys who are opposed to the current U.S. war on and occupation of Iraq. We are proof that the movement for a peaceful resolution to the current conflict in the middle east is very broad and includes people from all walks of life, including white-collar workers in traditionally conservative professions like corporate law. |

WE BELIEVE THAT THE WAR ON AND MILITARY OCCUPATION OF IRAQ
IS UNNECESSARY, ILLEGAL, IMMORAL AND UNWISE. |
|
|
|
-- Unnecessary because the dangers posed by any supposed weapons of mass destruction (which have yet to be found) could have been dealt with through peaceful means including continued containment and increased inspections.
-- Illegal because a preventive (rather than even a pre-emptive war) without the support of the U.N. Security Council violates the United Nations charter, international law, and principles established at the Nazi War Crimes Trials at Nuremberg.
-- Immoral because the massive degree of force being used by the United States and its so-called "coalition" has caused huge numbers of civilian deaths and injury and is resulting in a humanitarian disaster in a poor country already suffering from years of sanctions.
-- Unwise because the war and occupation are greatly increasing the hatred of america around the world and vastly raising the risk of terrorism, and costing the United States hundreds of billions of dollars in times of great economic distress, unemployment and massive budget cuts. |
